Baking Conversion Tools & Calculators
Every baker has done it — a recipe says Gas Mark 4, your oven dial is in Celsius, or an American recipe measures everything in cups. These free tools do the converting for you, so you can get on with the baking. No sign-up, no fuss: just type, convert, and preheat.
Why these converters?
British baking sits at a crossroads of three measurement worlds. Our classic cookbooks — Mary Berry's included — were written in Gas Mark and imperial ounces. Modern ovens are marked in Celsius, and half the recipes we find online now arrive from America in cups and Fahrenheit. A good conversion, done properly, is the difference between a cake that rises and one that sinks.
Each tool here is built for exactly the recipes on this site: the temperature converter knows the fan-oven rule, the cups converter weighs every ingredient separately (a cup of flour and a cup of sugar are very different things), the ounces converter speaks the language of classic British cookbooks, and the tin converter rescales a recipe when your tin is not the size the recipe expects.
